What size spacers do I need to use for the steering knuckle and for the subframe for swapping in an E36 rack? Would rather spend $4 at a hardware store than $30 at AKG or zionsville...

Stack up some washers between the rack and the subframe, that's the cheapest way I think. I'm not sure on the link though due to having an airbag car.'89 325is S50 Track Montser

so i'm guessing you guys would advise against using nylon bushes as spacers for the knuckle?-AlexComment

i mean on the steering knuckle, not between the rack and subframe... i figured since it's already got the rubber guibo on it, using nylon spacers wouldn't be too bad. But i'll stack some washers too-AlexComment

Ah okay. Yeah I just used washers there too. I know there are lots of ways to do it, but works for me.
The rubber stays there so I'm not worried about excess vibrations or anything. Just use some loctite and should be fine with washers.Originally posted by z31maniacI just hate everyone.

how many washers did you use? Im gonna try and use like 5 or 6 on each side of the knuckle, but idk how many to use for the subframe.-AlexComment
