So I have a 1985 318i, and that means that I have 45mm outside diameter struts. I recently put coilover sleeves on and slammed it. I want to go lower so i will have to shorten my strut housings. My real question is what inserts i should get? Where do i look for such a seldom occuring modification? Is there a database? I want to go like 2 inches lower or something similiar

but you could try going to a local parts store and looking through their paper catalog. They often have shocks listed by dimensions as well as by application.

I will check local part stores, as that seems to be my next pan of attack. I have posted this on other forums and everyone tells me to start over with what has already been done and proven.
