Question about what my car seems to be doing.

So this has been gradually getting worse and I am going to try to describe it the best i can. Its an 86 325. The steering feels crazy loose, i can turn the steering wheel a good 2 inches to either side and it feels like its doing nothing. Now, the getting worse part. Lately, i get a very bad vibration around 25-40 mph. the vibration is definatly comming from the right hand side. the faster i go, it seems to gradually go away, however when i brake, i can feel the right side try to push to the left. it feels like the right side is off doing its own thing while the left is doing what it is supposed to. Any thoughts?

suspension is taking a shit, something is most likely broken. have u taken a look under your car? see if anything is wiggly or loose/ has a lot of play.

check your bushings. i hear when they get old they allow for a little movement which translates to a lot of steering wheel play and inability to feel the road. as for the noise im not so sure, :/

The looseness in the steering wheel could be a bad steering column coupler. But my bet is on worn tie rods and/or worn control arms, either of which can also cause vibration in the steering wheel.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

check the control arms and bushings, mine did the exact same when the control arms took a shit

unfortunately control arms aren't cheap, but odds are you will only have to do them once!
