e36 tie rods on e30 rack?!?

So i was going through a few threads on here, and noticed a couple of people say that others should use e36 tie rods? It was in a drift thread but was curious to what the benefits of using them are?

I have the opposite e30 ends on e36 rack. I dont think think either makes a difference as you adjust the length to your needs with either tie rod end. The e36 tie rod has a slightly different looking but I believe they accomplish the same thing.
