GC front perch question - converting

I want to convert to the sleeve welded onto the cut strut housing. Can the current sleeve be remove and reused? Or would I need to order another one?

The threaded sleeve isn't actually welded to the strut housing (aluminum and steel don't mix well, anyway). If you received the flat, donut-shaped, steel perch in your kit, that is the only piece that gets welded to the housing.

okay, so if that donut is welded to my stock spring perch and I want to cut it off and go the better route and for more suspension travel, all I should have to do is order another one of those steel donuts? and the sleeve should be able to be removed from my current setup?

I'm not sure what you mean by "better route". If you want to move the location of the perch, then, yes, you will have to cut it off and either reweld the one you have or order a new one. You just have to be careful about loosing travel in the strut insert/shock, unless you already have a shorter bodied insert.

i didn't. my lazy PO went the jew route. cutting off the perch is what I consider the "better route".....and what should have been done. :roll:

Yeah, I'd be ordering the shorter Koni insert to go with the cut housing. And top adj short Koni shocks to match.
