steering rack -> better steering (doing everything)

hey, I need to change my control arms and tierods so I'm thinking about doing the steering rack too, I have a lot of play and irresponsiveness in my steering but I'm not sure if this is due solely to the steering rack, my strut mount bearings weren't greased right and are heavly worn, also my bushings are shot...What do you guys suggest I do? Replace the rack anyways or leave it in? Should I swap a rack from another type of car? let me know.

Chances are the shot ball joints are causing the play. One way to tell if the rack is bad is if there is fluid in the tie rod boots.

If not, it's probably fine, and the ball joints are just gone.

The ball joint is attached to the control arm and tie rods, I ordered them new so I'm set right? Not a seperate part is it?
