96 Z3 rack VS 2002-2005 330i e46 rack

Hello.

Im looking for a new faster rack for my e30. Reserched and found that these two are pretty much the best ones.

We do own an 02 330i sport and the steering is very sharp. Wouldn't mind having that rack on the e30.

So I know that 96 z3 has a non variable rack but I am not sure if 330i does also.

Help me get the better and sharper one.

Do you even know if you can put the e46 rack in, without heavy modification? If so how much would it cost? I personally want to do a z3 rack. But if you end up trying it let us all know!

There were few threads with e46 racked e30s. So they do fit with minimal work like the e36's racks. I guess the main difference is that you have to use the e30 tie rods since the e46's are too long.

I found em remanufactured online and they seam to be about the same price or less then the z3's.

I think overall ratio is similar (z3 13.9:1 linear 2.7 l2l) (330 13.7:1 progressive 3.0 l2l)

If its true then looks like the z3 one is still the way to go.

Can you jack up your 330 with the wheel all the way to one side and measure the amount of steering rack sticking out the other side? Then turn the wheel and see how many times you have to spin it? Would help us all out.
