    Help with rear shock removal

I just removed my left rear shock but I've run into a problem. I got it off fine, yet I didn't take out the shock mounts (oversight on my part), which I'll take out later. I just can't seem to get the protective sleeve off the old shock and onto the new one. I've tried twisting it, pulling it and everything inbetween. How the hell do I get this thing off?

That's part of that shock but if you really feel the need for those hit up blunttech.com I think they sell for like 5 bucks.

The struts came with a new sleeve but not the rear shocks.

Yep, I've tried banging them off.

The only thing I could think of is I used the sleeve in order to stop the shock from turning when I undid the top mount in the trunk, therefore the sleeve is slightly dented around the shock. I don't think this alone could hold the thing on though.

          Didn't see this.

Okay, I'll find the part numbers and see if I can get some at the dealer.

          Thanks!

The rears do not necessarily need covers. A lot of people don't use them.

The covers on the dampers you took off are not removable. Those appear to be aftermarket dampers as the OE sets come with the removable covers.
