vogtland+e90 hats

so i bought some e90 hats to drop the front down, but when i put them on it didn't compress the spring at all. so when i tryed to drive the springs just hoped out of the housings when i turned. so i put in the old hats.

are my springs just too small that the hats don't compress them?

You need to properly seat the spring as you lower the car.

Make sure the springs are sitting correctly in the strut housing and the hat. IE make sure the end of the spring sits against the lip on the strut housing

yup we did that, because when we tightened the nut on to the shock it spun the spring once so we took it off and vicegroped the spring on to the hat so it wouldn't spin..
