How wrong am I doing it?

In addition to every bolt having sheared off, having had to take the strut assembly to a shop to remove the impossibly rusted shock collar, lowering the car proved to be extremely difficult.

So I stood back, looked at it and realized that 2 days of absolute agony resulted in a job done completely wrong.

The threaded portion goes down to the strut housing, not above it.

    :(

I was thinking to myself... I see a helper spring where's the main spring? Then realized what you said. Unrepairable?

Quite repairable, but it involves undoing everything, tensioning the spring, removing the strut bearing up top, flipping the threaded collar and redoing the process.

Since I botched so hard I think I'll just get new bushings and do a thorough front end suspension job since I have to unbutton all the crap. Gah.
