Well you have to becareful saying you want to track the car and not spend a lot....

I think a good question to ask is, how are the busings on the car? Are you doing track events (HPDE,Autox) or SCCA,BMWCCA,NASA racing? First time?

The reason why I ask is, even though the car will lean and handle like shit the first time you go out, that is good. It will tell you the limits of the car and you will k n o w your limits of your car.. of course if your shocks/springs (stock) are torn to shit, then replace them.... but you don't want to go cheap... which you should already know... See the E30 won't get you in any real trouble (unless you put yourself there) because it is a well balanced car.

The best thing (for cheap) try to find a set of Bilsteins used. I bought mine (sports) for $100 awhile ago.....used...

"best handling springs"; well if you want to get technical.... for which track? I mean if you want to throw on a set of springs/shocks and go race that is fine.... you can do that cheap.... but if you want a set of springs that match your shocks, that match your swaybars, that match your car, then for obvious reasons thats the way to go...

I believe the HR 'race' springs are stiffer than what Eibach offers... then there is IE, which I believe people say it is stiffer than HR 'race'.... then there is the J-Stock springs ($350 from Turner Motorsport), but most will recommend you to get the shocks revalved while your at it ($65 from Bilstein), or you can the set from Turner.
