    H&R sport springs enough?

    Are the h&r sports enough for daily driving/ weekend canyon driving/ once a month autocrossing? Does it dip to the side when making sharp turns? (I searched but couldnt find answers for that) I currently have a e92 with h&r race springs and I love how it does not dip on super sharp turns.

    Hope this isnt a stupid question........

      Before the stanceboys on R3V fly in and tell you that you have to run at least H&R race springs (not calling you one ak ^ :P): I have H&R sport springs. Some days they are a bit too stiff for daily driving for my tastes on some of the bumpier roads. Other times they feel a bit too soft. I think the balance is pretty good though. A car with J-stock springs bombing down a canyon road is probably going to understeer and oversteer places where a car with stock suspension would grip, all due to suspension compliance. If you are concerned with controlling dive and squat then feel free to get stiffer springs as the h&r sports don't have a drastic improvement over stock, the fact that the springs are progressive is a big part of it. However adjustable sway bars + relatively soft springs (H&R sport) will give you flat cornering, and great handling while keeping some suspension compliance to keep the car on the road. There are a few times where I have taken a corner hot just to find that the road was a bit uneven mid-corner. I feel like the wheels would have skipped over the bumps and I would have some mean understeer to deal with. Non-progressive rate springs will be harsher but will eliminate dive with lower spring rates.

      That's my take at least.

          Ride Quality has a lot to do with components OTHER Than springs, not JUST springs.

          Shocks, wheels/tires make a big difference as well.

            I think H&R Sports are excellent for daily driving. I ran them on my old 4 door.

            Not everyone needs super stiff springs.

              As a late ('91) 318i driver w/ early 318i H&R Sports, I've found that the springs have done little for me other than lower the car. H&R Sports are designed to be paired with factory spec. struts, shocks, and wheels. If you want a firmer feel in the twisties go race springs, sport shocks, and upgrade your sways. If you want to run low with fatty rubber and low offsets without serious rubbage then go race. If you're worried about speedbumps don't do either.

                How much did it lower your car? Yes I searched but the drop ranges significantly

                    I'm running E30m3 race springs on my early 318, they are quite firm, but I personally don't mind. they are tolerable to me but my goal is performance, and I could see how the ride would be annoying. I am also stripping my car of creature comforts so it's not high on the list of "inconveniences".

                        No, E30 M3, E36 springs won't work.

                          I run the H&R Race springs...for the street ,a little stiff,but not as bad as I originally thought,for the track,they feel soft..I may go for coil overs with springs around 450-500 f and 600 r..
