should i replace entire control arm or ball joint?

my front right ball joint is fucked. makes clunking noises. got it up on the lift, obvious signs of worn out.

my question is, should i replace the entire controll arm or can i just do ball joint?
    or does it depend?
i dont see why the whole control arm would go bad...and the harbor freight ball joint tool+ball joint is still less than entire control arm...

or is it easier to just replace entire control arm?

    thanks.

Bentley states that ball joints aren't serviceable, and the entire arm should be replaced.

Bentley lies. You can replace them, IIRC BMA sells the individual balljoints. If you don't have a good press and lots of big sockets etc to use as guide tools you will have to get a machine shop to do it and the labour will most likely cost more than buying whole new arms. At least that's how it worked out for me.
