    Replacing broken struts/strut housing

I will soon be replacing the broken struts And strut housing on the drivers side of the car, since they are broken is there any proper way to take them out withought the springs flying off? Thanks

How are they broken? How about using spring compressors to keep the spring from flying off. I don't intend that as a sarcastic douchebag comment either.

The easiest way to explain how theyre broken is when i jack the car up, the wheel never leaves the ground and im worried if i jack it to high the springs will shoot out.

The only way I could see that happening is if the upper strut bearing is no longer intact or the nut on the end of the strut shaft is missing.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Jack that motherfucker up, the springs not going anywhere. Even if it was broken at the top mounting point slowly jacking it up will slowly releave the tension on the spring allowing it to be removed without much hassle.

If your really worried strap some motherfucking zip ties around the spring to keep it toit, then jack that fucker up.

EDIT: lots of zip ties, at least 3-4. big ones.

Ok so i jacked up the car slowley and eventually the shocks locked up?? I guess the rust stopped them from completly sliding off. Other than new shocks and strut housing what other parts should i replace???
