    Upper strut mounts

when I was trying to take apart the suspension assembly with the strut and shock and stuff, I gave up halfway cause I couldn't compress the strut, but when I put everything back together, the strut bearing mounts studs (The three studs that connect to the shock tower) were loose. Not the nut that attaches to them, but the actual stud is loose and just there freely. It won't pop out but I can't spin the nut to tighten it cause the stud spins as well. Is this a worry? Should I be sketched the fuck out?

I'd pull it out and put some JB Weld around it.

I can't pull it out cause my shock is seized and it won't compress so I have to do it by taking my whole front suspension from the hub assembly :(

I can't /shouldn't run it this way right? I have to travel 80miles to my friends place to redo my whole front suspension on Monday but i don't know if I should..

All of them are loose? Can you get a nut to go on even halfway?

Try using a Rubber Strap Wrench to hold the Shaft. GL

I have a nut on halfway, two on 1/4 of the way. like the strut mount isn't sliding around since all the studs are there

Rubber strap wrench? Hell, mine just slip on and stay there, no strap necessary.

I drove about 10miles on my car like this and the fastest I went was 90mph and nothingnhappened, the studs still look the same and the car didn't perform any different.

What is the actual purpose of the upper strut mounts? Even with mine half destroyed cause of the studs, the car still acts and performs the same..?
(of course I'm still gonna change them, I'm just curious)

The top strut mounts have bearings to allow the assemply to turn and a rubber bushing for some flex.
The three nuts on top pretty much just hold the assembly up. I'm pretty sure you could drive without the three nuts, but you'd hear huge bangs on bumps. Bad things could happen if the wheel was lifted off the ground. In theory, on a perfect road, you probably wouldn't even notice if they weren't there.
But I would never recommend driving without them.

I'm going to drive 80miles to my friend's place tomorrow to get my whole front suspension changed out, I'm gonna be driving on the sketchy upper strut mounts ive been driving on for the past 3 days without any noticeable problems, (I've probably done 60miles, 80mph top speed). Of course even though it's been good to me I'm gonna be driving at a safe 55mph .
