    Re-lubing steering rack

I am in the process of swapping my blown out old steering rack with one from a 95 m3. I am also doing a PS delete while I'm at it. Would it hurt to throw some more grease on the rack? The old one seemed to have a fair amount of grease on it but the one from the m3 has substatially less.

No grease is used on a power steering rack. What you see is oil or power steering fluid that has leaked onto the rack.

The rack will need some fluid in it for lubrication. You can either add a small amount of fluid and cap the ports or connect both ports to the PS reservoir. I prefer the latter as it allows for thermal expansion w/o expelling fluid.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
