Base E36 springs on E30 (hear me out...)

So I'm building an E30 for stage rally use and I want a bit more than stock ride height. I've heard that E36 springs are a direct swap and could give me about an inch more ride height with a slightly higher spring rate. Seems like E36 M3 stuff is a common swap, but base model info is hard to find. Has anyone ever seen this kind of thing done, or have any info on the E36 spring heights and rates?

i used e30 cabrio 6 cyl suspension to lift my e30 and gain stiffer rates.
