    Oversteer

    Hi

I just ran my first track day and my car had excessive oversteer, Im running the IR 25mm and 22mm swaybars, Im know ordering the camber and tow correction kits to see if it helps me. Also Im using Kumho ecsta xs 180 tw tire, the car is ligther than stock.

Any ideas or tips to correct this?

    Need more details:

What is your front/rear weight distribution?
How much fuel was in the car?
What is the inflation pressure of each tire?
Under what conditions were you oversteering?
What settings do you have the sway bars set to?
What spring rates are you running?
If you have coilovers, what is your ride height at each corner?

    Are you driving smoothly?

I would start with setting the rear sway bar to a softer setting.
What weight reduction have you done? Just to give you an idea about my weight distribution: my 325i with A/C removed and trunk tar removed, half tank of gas, jack+spare+toolkit+full interior, and no driver weighs 2720 lbs and has close to a 53/47 weight distribution. With me in the car it sits closer to 52/48.

I have stock sway bars, H&R sport springs, 35psi cold front/rear on Falken Ziex 912's and offset control arm bushings. I have very neutral handling. When I am nearing the limit of grip there is a faint sense of understeer. When I want oversteer, I can give a little bit of throttle and get it rotating if I desire. So unless you have a really whacky weight distribution then balancing out the oversteer should be found with softening the rear sway bar.

This is all just my opinion though.

My opinion: that rear sway bar is way too big. Reduce it or set it to a softer setting if you can.

softer rear sway and or no rear sway, stiffer springs?

My Spec E30 weighs 2738 w/driver, full cool shirt cooler, and a full tank of gas. 51.8% is on the front wheels and cross is 50.6%. The front (22mm) sway is non adjustable and I have the rear sway set as soft as it will go. The front wheels are set for 3deg of camber and zero toe. The rears are set for 3deg of camber and 1/16" total toe. The car (on Toyo RA1 tires) is slightly loose during track out.

You need to get the corner weights and see what the balance and cross weights are. The car is probably nose heavy and if the front bar is adjustable, set it for full stiff and set the rear bar to full soft. That should help cure the over steer. If rear toe is off and especially if less than 1/16", the car will have pronounced oversteer. Less than a 1/6" total rear toe will scare god. More rear camber helps, but toe is the big driver in oversteer.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

My car has no tar, seats, a/c, radio, speakers, door panels, sun roof, no tools, carpets, jack,
Just a rollbar, my seat, dash.

I have the offset control arms bushings also, 4.10lsd and n/a decent power.

Probably I have to stiffen the front to the max and set the rear to the softest like you said and apply some - camber and fix the problem. I also need to corner weight balance the car.

Is there like a diagram or anything like that to set IE swaybars?

Move the endlink attachment points towards the rear of the car in order to stiffen, and towards the front of the car in order to soften the swaybars.
