Car ride height / Shock mounts

When I first changed the shocks and springs, I didnt install the drop hats. So that is why I originally didnt change the shock mounts because I decided to change the shock mounts when I put in the drop hats. Well I just recently changed the shock mounts and put in the drop hats. Instead of getting lower or staying the same it got a lot higher in the front. The suspension setup is Bilstein sports and HnR springs.

Is there anything I can do to lower the front? Maybe cut the springs a little? I was thinking about putting the old mounts back on but they werent in good shape. I gave it a couple days thinking itll get lower but hasnt changed a bit. Any ideas will help. Thanks

The H&R's(like most springs) have dead coils at the top you can cut off, that'll get you much lower. I feel like drop hats usually lower peoples cars though? Ie, the drop part. Sorry, can't help you with that part but you can def chop the springs.

    Go here be happy!

I noticed the ones BMA sells are a little different from the original ones. I don't know if there was a foactory update or what but the dust caps would not fit in the new ones. Also i'm sure the rubber for your mounts will settle in time.

How do I know when the dead coils stop? Or when its too much to cut?

That's because most front struts mounts are somewhat collapsed (flat). I know the ones on my turbo car are like that, I've got new ones waiting to go on. Will probably install some drop hats or possibly cut coil to keep it low enough.

Einstein, I believe a lot of the replacement strut mounts are like this. If I'm not mistaken the E36 cap fits in there.
