So I am new to the e30 world and the entire world of working on cars for that matter. I was hoping someone could give me a rundown of the components that make up the suspension and steering of the e30 and what they do. The reason I ask is my car has a slight vibration between 65-75 mph and I think something needs to be replaced. Sorry I sound like such a noob, but it's because I am.
Trying to learn about suspension and steering.

Front suspension
Rear suspension
I won't be able to give you a rundown on all the parts (check HowStuffWorks or something like that) but most any worn part in the front suspension, including wheels out of balance, could cause that issue. For me, my control arm bushings were extremely worn and allowed the control arm to move around at freeway speeds between 60 and 70 like you describe (due to harmonics it seems). Worn ball joints are another possibility, -

also, use www.realoem.com (the E30 stuff is in the "archive" section) to see all the parts diagrams you might ever want to see, it will give you a better view of how things go together.Comment

if you're looking outside just E30..... pick up a copy of "Competition Car Suspension", by Allan Staniforth, an essential book for understanding the basics.
