    Koni Advice Please.

I just finished doing a complete suspension overhaul on my '89 325is. Every consumable component has been replaced with stock except for M3 cab's in the front, H&R sport springs and KYB shocks/struts.

I'm not impressed with the KYBs, the BMW Boge components that i removed (they could be original (200k) but i have personally put 100k on them) have as much or more damping.

I want to put Koni sports on the car and they offer 2 different struts and 2 different shocks for the E30 chassis. I called Koni and got the specs for all 4 and want some advice.

8641-1021 and 8641-1210 struts are basically the same except 1021 has 500 bump damping and 1210 has 700.

80-2641 and 80-2522 shocks are also similar except 2641 is 19mm shorter extended and 2522 has a tiny bit more rebound damp (950 vs 900)

Can anyone recommend or offer experience between the choices?

Good info here and would be much much much better with units on those damping values.

With those springs the sweet spot for rebound damping initially will be 1 to 1-1/2 turns from full soft when using 8641-1021 (front) and 26-1196 (rear). Mor rebound damping makes the car feel stiffer, but you loose contact patch on rough surfaces. The best handling usually results from the least rebound damping that doesn't allow spring oscillation.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I didn't see the 26-1196 for E30 on Koni's website, which rear shock is that?

I know you re looking for info on Koni:

I just installed Bilstein sports and H&R sports on my mother's e30. The ride is honestly balanced perfect for corners and DD ride comfort. Just wanted to add some experience with these springs and paired struts/shocks.

^ Thanks for the input, F34R.

I found some lightly used Konis that are theoretically on their way to me right now so i'm going to give them a shot.

Looking at running Koni struts on my wife's car w/stock springs.

How do you like yours so far?

Are those part #'s backwards? i googled them and 8641-1210 pulled up as 316/318 and several vendor sites and 8641-1021 came up as 325e/i/...
