    Steering racks for E30

I'm thinking of upgrading the stock rack and wondered if an E36 rack is that much better than the E30 or should I just go with an "M" or "Z"? I see where the 92-98 E36 is 3.2 Turn to Lock... 95 E36 M3 is 3.0 Turn to Lock...95-97 E36 Z3 is 2.7 Turn to Lock. Anybody know what the E30 turn to lock is? I'm not tracking just want a little more fun out of it. Thanks for any suggestions

If you go outside and lock it all the way in either direction, then turn it all the way to the other side while counting the turns of the wheel, you will have your answer.

Will swapping racks affect the amazing turn radius E30s have?

        4 turns, lock-to-lock.

Search, tons and tons of info in this. But if you don't wanna search z3 1.6 I believe is best... its the only linear rack (vs progressive) which means it feels faster, that being said there is a lot of preference that goes into the decision of a new rack..

Z rack without a doubt if your looking for the smaller lock to lock!

I made a thread on this awhile back: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=172261

              Cliffs: Z3 non-M rack > E36 rack > E36 M3 rack > E30 rack.

Ok it looks like the Z3 non M is the winner here. I saw this and wondered if anybody else has tried one of these. I can't tell if it's a linear one since the part number doesn't match up with BMW #32131095575 from RealOEM. Did they make a non-linear one for this particular E36 Z 95-97?

make sure you have a core to give them or you can go ahead and add $115 to that price.

I actually bought my current rack about eleven years ago with lifetime warranty from Advance and they can't get me a replacement so I'm going to see tomorrow if they will let me have the Z rack and pay the price difference of $60 and the core difference of $20...not going to hold my breath but you never know
