So the GE setup can use the Billie sports with no modifications?

Yup. Although I suggest taking 10 extra minutes to chop off the stock perches. It makes adjustment so much easier.

Looking at the original title of the thread, I purport THIS to be a work of art.

                  Art is in the details.

                  Some art you can see.
Such details as a threaded sleeve that is made for an e30 (no raw aluminum).

                  Some art you can't see.
Such as German bearings that let the spring "steer" when you turn the steering wheel.

                    To answer the original post:

There is NO coilover kit in the world that works well with an e30 Bilstein. The HD and Sport e30 Bilsteins were designed in the early 1980's, when you could not even buy a 50 series tire.

The suspension world has changed dramatically, but the Bilstein length, bumpstop and valving has not.

For comparison, if you do decide to purchase a GC kit for $399, here is what you would get:

Aluminum upper perches to fit Bilstein and stock upper mount.
Eibach spring, to best match Bilstein.
Weld on lower mount, or no weld mount (your choice)
Threaded tube, specific length, anodized both ends.
One piece threaded adjuster with pinch bolt ( no jam wrenches)

Rear upper nylon spring seat, with o-rings.
Eibach spring, to best match Bilstein.
Press on rear arm e30 threaded block.
One piece, CURVED threaded adjuster with pinch bolt ( no jam wrenches)

Plus actual shock dyno results, and experience to minimize Bilstein-coilover problems.

Parts are in stock, and can be shipped the same day. I do realize GC costs a little more than alternatives, so you have to decide what it is worth to you for a lifetime guarantee from a company with liability insurance, no waiting, and parts made specifically for an e30 with Bilsteins.

Can't speak on GC coils from experience but I've seen several threads regarding their coils/camber plates making noises. Stay away from the JOM coilovers, do it right the first time around. I've been looking to switching over to BC racing coilovers -- I have heard some good reviews on them: http://bcracingsuperstore.com/products/bmw/84-91-e30/

Yup. All posts from the same few guys and their dealers.

Race car parts are metal to metal. Wear a helmet.

Street car parts have no metal to metal. Wear whatever you want, but don't make up fake internet names. Its just tacky.

(not referring to anyone in this thread)

I just had my GC springs replaced under warranty. Sent pics and they were replaced next day, GC has gained my forever enduring support from their products and service. You are not buying from some random place in China or Germany, you are getting your parts from in the states!

Here is a bit of my setup:

let me point out that is a early model with high arches. I have all the tread tucked and body lip down to the side wall.

Here is a nice shot of my setup before reinstall. New camber plates and springs was the reason for removing.

Currently I am running GC coilovers(500F/700R), Bilstein sports(till summer, valved Koni is new setup), GC e28 camber plates.

                              OK...The verdict...
I received the JOM setup. Upon receiving package, It was all loose in the box, so shocks were all scuffed and scratched up from the springs. Once i saw this I was inclined to sell right away. So sold them to my B-in-law..(Jeje) I let him be the guinea pig. Since he is a bit of a noobe, I took him about...5hr to install. He complained abi\out it not having instructions. After install he complained about it not being too low in the rear. He likes the ride height in front but now he has to change lower suspension components cause it rides to hard!!
Overall, the JOM suspension is good for a recession buster, but I think I'm going with GC full setup. Yes its more $$ but for what I'm doing to my car,it deserves more than JOM.
Note: This is totaly MY opinion....

JOM in ther rear dont put the adjuster, and in two weeks[when springs sit right] your ass of the car gonna be sitting on your wheels cuz it goes very low...
front you can go as low as you need to clear a first rock on the road...
you can spend more money, ofcourse better set up, but why so much ppl have JOM cuz its cheaper, adjustable, rides very good, handles good, unless you go to track... then you need to have a build normal track e30. =]
