there is a local part out here, guy has a 2001 Z3, was gonna have him pull the rack for the e30....what else would i need though (and would this rack work the same as the maval one i hear about thats like 2.7LtL)

Make sure it's 2.7 before he pulls it if you haven't already! I've pulled a few racks thinking they were 2.7 and they ended up being 3.2.
All you really need from the z3 is the rack. You can use E36 or E30 tie rods but I prefer E36. The only other thing you need is some sort of spacers for the knuckle and top of the rack.-Alex
