    Broken Front Spring

I just picked up a 91 325ix (4 Door), I had a couple things done to it to get it on the road. The mechanic pointed out that the front right spring was broke. They wanted $300 just to replace the 1 broken spring. I told him to hold off to give me some time to research this first. My thinking is to replace both sides at the same time and mine as well do the struts too. Also it needs inner and outer tie rod ends; I noticed Pelican does not carry the RH anymore??? Also the control arm bushings need to be done, so mine as well do it all at the same time. I guess what I’m asking is where to get these suspension parts without spending a fortune. Thanks for the help/comments in advance!!!

Well, before you go purchasing from one place ask what your intentions are with the vehicle?

For 420 you can get a sweet brand new suspension with ride height adjustability, JOM Coilovers (stand alone thread on how to order them, just search).

Or if you are going race car might be a good time to do that while you are under the car.

eBay control arm kits are a good price. I think some people have run into problems with them, though. Find out which parts are problematic and use OEM there, keep the rest.

I have a set of new shocks with less than 1000 miles on them if you want to make an offer. OEM replacemet, Sachs brand. They went off to make room for my JOMs.

And $300 for one spring and labor? Labor will be the majority of the price I bet. Any mechanical abilities? Fellow E30 owners in your area? Maybe they could help with the install. Just need it back on the road? Go to the pick-and-pull.

Get used springs from someone parting an iX here in the forums.

Aren't iX control arms specific to the iX?

Research carefully here on the forums which parts (specifically control arm bushings ie. stock, offset, etc.) you want. Don't want to be replacing them again.

There is a Yahoo iX group here: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/...5ixclub/?tab=s

Also an e30 forum here: http://www.e30tech.com/forum/

There is an iX parting on this forum today here: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=223006
