front stabilizer link nut - removal

Trying to remove the link nut at the front stabilizer, it appears that the shaft going into the link ball joint is freely spinning. I don't see any way to secure the shaft so i can loosen the nut. What mystical or obvious E30 knowledge am I missing?

you need a 15mm wrench to put between the sway bar and the shaft of the link. there are two flat sides for the wrench to be secured on the shaft end so the shaft doesn't spin while removing the nut.

Beautiful. Mine were 16mm, but with my old eyes, I really couldn't see the flats at all. Thanks for your quick answer!
