I have replaced a set of stock springs with new stock springs after breaking one on a Toyota with 120k miles. There was certainly a change in feel afterwards. Nothing huge, but they do lose their stiffness a bit over time. I personally would rather buy them brand new, they aren't much money, its the dampers that get ya.
If you are getting an insane deal (under $100) then I say go for it -
it will be approximately the same. Unless you have a seriously heavy car or live in an area with a lot of salt on the roads it's going to hard to find a difference between spring rates.
Sagaris, to be honest I think you case is extreme, or a bit of placebo effect. Car springs can last more than 1 million miles without issue. Obviously it depends on use as well.'84 318i M10B18 147- Safari Beige

Read up on "creep"
"Over time, all springs undergo a loss of elasticity. Depending on the type of load imposed on the spring, this loss of elasticity manifests itself as relaxation or creep."
sure, car springs CAN last up to a million miles without failing or breaking, but their stiffness deteriorates over time.Comment
