    Squeaking Steering Wheel?

So I bought this 325iX a while back as a daily driver. I must confess, my wife has been driving it more than me (as I was DDing the M3). Now that I am driving the iX more and more I realized how bad this squeaking wheel is.

The previous owner installed an aftermarket wheel of some sort, but I'm not sure if thats the issue. The wheel only squeaks when I turn it, I'm not getting squeaks from suspension or hitting bumps, etc.

The other strange thing (to me at least) is that it's either really bad, or it's barely there. It seems like the weather may affect it? IDK...

SO what should I look at first? Any ideas?

What year is it? Pop the wheel off, if it's a 91 (airbag) wheel, it probably requires an additional steering wheel spacer that the PO did not install. Other than that, it could be the ground for the horn actually scraping the metal ring, in which case you can apply a grease to it.

Had the same issue. IT was the lack of grease that caused it for me.

The car is a 89, so no airbag.

        Where did you add grease?

Conductive grease should be used on the slip ring.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
