Koni Sports with IE3 Springs: Uneven Rear Height

I have Koni Adjustables with IE3 Race springs on my 1989 325i for about 4 or 5 years now. I just got new wheels and I noticed that the passenger side rear sits higher than the drivers side rear by about 1 inch. I never noticed this before but I really never compared the two sides before. It may have been like this the whole time.

Anyone know what could be causing the difference?

So why would swapping the pads and springs level it out? What's going on that's causing this?

Some times the factory leveled out the cars with different sized pads due to irregularities in the springs. Or check to see that they are not worn away to nothing. The spring pads are cheap enough to get new ones.

Okay, that makes sense. I'll check them out and report back.

Its a common problem for older cars, my AE86 has a driver's side lean. Aftermarket coilovers were the only thing that resolved the issue. I've also heard that some OEM springs have different height between driver's side and passenger's side.

Its crazy how newer BMW stock spring rates vary depending on options. For example if you have nav and premium sound they will increase the drivers side rear spring rate to compensate for the extra 20lbs of electronics that are directly on top of the wheel well. Perhaps its the same with the IE springs to compensate for the battery?
