45 mm inserts in 51 mm struts?

Anyone done this before?

A pile of parts came with my first e30 and now that I look back at the extra strut housings, they had OEM BMW Bilstein 45 mm inserts in 51 mm housings. I just picked up a set of HD's from a member here that ended up being 45 mm. They came with gland nuts that are threaded on the outside and look like they were installed in 51 mm struts.

I'm debating installing them or advertising them correctly and sellling them.

Please chime in with any experience putting 45 mm inserts in 51 mm struts.

How much do you want for the 45mm HDs?

They will work. Not entirely ideal, but it will work (with the correct gland nuts, of course).
