    steering rack sticking

    when I turn my Steering wheel it feels like it gets to a point and gets hard then releases, feels weird. Any ideas
    "I wanna see da boat movie"
    "I got a tree on my house"

    Is the feeling consistent when turning both ways? Is it happening during a specific number of rotations? Have your checked your steering shaft knuckle and/or flex disc? Sounds like the knuckle may be binding on itself. That or your rack is taking a poo.

      yeah its consistent both ways at about a 1/4 turn. It feels tight then lets loose like it is binding. Thanks for your suggestion hopefully it is just the knuckle.

        Mine felt this way when the boots ripped and water gets to it when raining.

          There are several possible causes of this. Those include:

          A bad steering shaft flex joint
          Bad upper strut mounts
          Bad tie rods
          Bad control arms

          A bent or damaged rack is a possibility, but that is unlikely and should not be considered until the other possibilities are eliminated.
          The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
