H&R Sports w/ Koni struts???

Has anyone run Koni 1210 Sport externally adjusable strut inserts with H&R Sport springs on their car?

I am removing the Bilstein Sport strut inserts because they are too stiff for a cabriolet. I want to avoid purchasing Eibach Pro springs and want to know if anyone has tried the above setup and what the results were.

from my previous cars, Konis were the stiffest shock I have ever used. Even their soft setting was pretty damn stiff. I have no clue about bilstien sports though.

Avoid the Eibach Pros on a Vert they are too soft and the drop is too low with droop.

H&R makes a Vert specific spring, it's excellent for everyday driving. The Koni 1210 are nice but beware they have NO bump stops so you need to take this into effect on lowered cars.

Double Ugh. OK, I'll try the Koni's with the H&R. But which Koni? No bump stops though on the externally adjustable, huh? I haven't bottomed out yet with either car using the H&R Sport springs.

I was told by many people that the Koni's are softer than the Bilsteins - at least for my e30 application.

The specific H&R part # for the cabriolet is the same exact part for the standard e30, M3 excluded as they are, in fact, stiffer springs. I confirmed this with H&R yesterday. The marketing department gave it a different part # because the drops are different for the cabriolet (it's heavier) and when publishing their drop data did not want to confuse the consumer with different drop numbers coming from the same part number. So, same spring with different part #'s.

Any other thoughts?

Ok I suggest you review the "Show me your suspension" Thread.

I like both brands but they are different in both aspects. I had Eibachs and they were soft and tend to bottom out on my Bilstein

Shoot CorvallisBMW a PM. He went through the same trouble with his vert. He ultimately went with Bilstein Sports (shortened bump stops up front) and a GC coil over kit. I can't recall what rates, but he talked to the guys at GC for a while and his new set up is by far the most comfortable he's had.

Stock e30 m3 springs work great on verts and have a really nice stance.
