Both wheels are toed-in because the Z3 rack is a tad longer than the E30 rack. The difference in length is taken up by adjusting the tie rods. Take it to a shop for an alignment. If the steering wheel is way off, then I would remove the steering wheel and re-install with it centered (non-airbag only) or if it is an airbag car, then you will have to remove the knuckle from the rack splines, and get it centered that way.

You want the steering wheel to be centered while having an even amount of adjustment left on both drivers side and passenger side tie rods.

You can really rape your tires by having too much toe. I drove 20 miles on mine with my best attempt at a home alignment job, and could notice a slight feathered edge on one of the tires.

I installed new tie rods on my car and made sure that they were the same length as the old ones, my steering wheel was still off though. An alignment will fix this problem.
Removing the steering wheel and trying to re-align it will not work.

When installing a rack the first thing to do is to center the rack with the same extension of the rack shaft on both sides of the rack. Then center the steering wheel and connect the column coupler. The rack and wheel are then at center. Adjust the tie rods until the wheels are close to being aligned and then have the car aligned. The tech will lock the steering wheel and adjust the tie rods for correct toe and the steering wheel should wind up centered.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
