    rear not level HELP!

    My 91 318is is not sitting level in the back. It is an inch lower on the driver side than the passenger side with the stock stuff in there. I put some E30 M3 springs in and replaced the shocks and it is still 1 inch low. When I installed the springs I removed the isolators so that is not the cause. I know the new springs sit right on another vehicle so they are not bad. What could this be? Im thinking it is rooted in one of these issues.
    Bent subframe?
    Bent arms?
    bad trailing arm bushings? (but the tires are wearing normally so if they are bad it is not too far out)
    Bent spring perch on the body?

    This is really driving me crazy!!!!

    I'm thinking of replacing the whole subframe with a junkyard one that I put all new parts on but I don't want to just use the parts shotgun on this.

      It's hard to diagnose a problem like this without looking at the car. If you have the spare money and it hasn't been done yet, a refresh of the subframe and trailing arm bushings would help eliminate one variable. It would also require removing the rear subframe, so you could measure and inspect the parts for any kind of variances. Not to mention the ride after the bushing install would feel much better.

        That is in the works. I found a 325IS in a pull a part place last weekend that I will be getting the 3.73 LSD from. I might just get the whole subframe and build that one.

          Don't know if this reassures you, but my 86 Corolla sat about a 1/2 inch lower on the driver's side when compared to passenger side (both front and back). I would say that about 99% of AE86's suffer from this. Some people speculate it's manufacturing issue, others say it's a result of wear and tear on chassis; anyhow I found a solution to my problem by going to a full coilover set-up.

          Assuming you don't have a subframe or suspension issues, you could just add some spring pads on the side that is lower and remove pads on the side that higher and that might even things out, GL.

            I don't think 1/2" is cause for concern unless you have tire wear issues. How does it measure with and without gas in the car?

              Are you taking measurements on a level surface? If the car is plumb and you Drivers rear arch is closer to the tire, the passenger front arch should be higher. It works diagonally. Push down on LR the RF comes up, and down on RR the LF comes up. I had a similar problem.
