rack and pinion question!!

I have a 93 325i vert that i am replacing the rack and pinion on but i seem to be having problems i bought a rack and pinion from a 91 325i and i was wondering if they are any different??

99% sure there is no difference between the two. If there is, I will be very shocked.

yea thats what i thought but for some reason when i align it right (same turns to both sides) the drivers side outer tie rod doesn't reach

The same rack part number is used on both cars reference. So the racks are the same.

To install the rack center the steering wheel and center the rack so that the rack shafts have the same extension on both sides of the rack. Then connect the steering column to the rack. Once the rack is installed, adjust the tie rods until the wheels are aligned w/o moving the steering wheel.

so the whole problem was they had given me the wrong tie rod
