ok deal? used GC coilovers, rsm's, bilstien sports

I can get some used GC coilovers with used bilstein sports, and used GC RSM's, for $400 for the whole setup (including trading my stock suspension). This guy I know is selling his car and wants to take it back to stock first.

the setup probably has 20k miles on it.

    here's what he said:

"Here's what I've got in the suspension:
    399 for GCs.
99 for GC shock mounts (you will want these so you don't blow out the stock ones).
    380ish? for the Bilsteins.
I was able to get the cutting and welding on the front strut housing done for free.
I figure new all of it would be worth 1000 dollars, so how about 400 if I can get your stock stuff and I assume we will each do about equal labor."

Is this an alright deal? I never thought i'd do the suspension on my ///eta because it wasnt worth it, so I don't know much about aftermarket setups. but now i've started autocrossing occasionally and have the bug.

are the bilstein sports going to blow out with the stiff springs? Will i be replacing all my tires every 6 months with a setup like this?

    thanks for the advice.
    Evan

edit: springrates are 350/450, but i don't know what to compare that to. shocks have 50k, springs have 20k. i will use this for street and autoX. will this make for a good handling car? too soft?

The dampers are old, and they are a poor match to GC's.

I recommend you buy new, get stiffer rates than those, and enjoy.

hm, that's disappointing because I am still tempted to go for it.
Should I offer less for it?
What are better springrates for a street/autox car?

If you really want it, buy his entire setup, sell the Bilsteins, and buy some new Konis. The rates are about the softest you'd want, but still acceptable (just don't plan on slamming it too low). If you get the entire strut assembly pre-built and get at least $125 for the Billys (realistic), it's a good deal.
