Attn 318is owners with Ground control coilovers

Most of the GC info I have found seems to apply to 325 owners. So 318is owners, What spring rates are you running? What sprign length? Koni adjustable's? Koni SA's, Bilstein sports? How do you like your setup? Anything you would change? Thank you.

The weight difference is negligible, really. Just subtract 5-10% from the M20 spring rates.

Also, run 6" springs front AND rear. GC likes to sell people 7" front and 5.5" rear, but don't let them.

Awesome, so you can switch front/rear! That could come in handy. Alot of the guys on s14.net run 400/600 for street/track. I think I'll try that.

        Thanks mystical, you rock

Actually you can't switch F-R, the rear springs are barrel-shaped to prevent any coil bind. The fronts are straight.

400/600 is solid, a little rearward biased though. I'd go 400/550, but if you are confident in your abilities, why not.

what if we just bought new springs from GC and they sent us a straight (non-barrel-shaped) rear spring? I assume those can be swapped to the front....

Well of course, but hopefully the rate is high enough to prevent binding. And if they're that high, no street-rolling E30 should have front rates like that.

hmm, someone told me that if you oredered any spring except the one that comes standard with their "kit" they would be straight instead of barrelled.

My current springs are 168/450 so I know all about rear bias (hehehehe)

They arent GC's, They are Tein springs for the e36 M3. They sit too high in the back and are too soft in the front, so I am changing to GC's

Nah that's wrong, they have hundres of different springs and know to send the barelled ones. I've ordered different rears, they came barelled.

The rear springs that came with my GC kit are 625 and are straight springs. They are slightly narrower and shorther than the front springs.

Are you getting any popping noise's from your rear springs? I have 650 rear springs and they are not barrel shaped. I beleive Im getting binding.

Jay, if Im getting a bad popping sound from my springs is this coil bind?

See those probably wouldn't bind due to the rate, but they'd still be useless on the front of an E30 (because of the high rate).

Swapping front to rear really isn't a viable E30 option. E36/46 yeah, but not with our oddball trailing arms.
