    Am I missing something?

Or is it not $10 cheaper to buy the H&R Sport Cup kit from Turner ($742) vs buying the BilstSprt/H&R Race combo... ($753)

just thinking out loud here- i'd rather have the complete set from one manufacturer that's "made for each other" than have two different mfgrs, warranties, customer service depts, etc.

PLUS- the H&R cup kit's a bigger drop...

i'm currently in the deciding stage of suspension, and am leaning strongly toward the Sport Cup... so I ask again, am I missing something??

    Perhaps.

Consider that spec e30 uses the Bilstein/H&R combo, so all those racers use that setup.

I've never heard much about cupkits except when guys are trying to sell them to upgrade to coilovers.

Also, I think you can find the billie/H&R bits cheaper than what you've listed.

I ran the cupkit for a little over a year and then promptly upgrades to GCs. The drop on the cupkit was quite nice but the setup is way too soft especially if you do any autocrossing or spirited driving in general.

So what's the happy medium between squishy and low Cupkits and the GC's full on mental race setup? Or does that put me back to Billy's and Race springs.

And 110, you said I could find them cheaper? /Any ideas where?

You could find them used on the forums or craigslist. Just scan the classified forums. Also I think there's a group buy going on for the H&R Race Springs.

Remember at the time h&r designed springs for the e30 that they did not have their own shocks. I'll give you one guess as to what shocks pretty much all aftermarket springs were designed to be used with.
