Are your strut tubes damaged or something? The 'strut' on E30's are integral to the steering knuckle and wheel hub. I'm not sure where you'd even buy new assemblies with new inserts, hubs and bearings.
To change the front dampers you have to take off the strut housing, remove the spring, then take off the gland nut that holds the insert in, replace with new insert and reassemble.

Part #1 is the strut housing, you reuse yours, #4 is the strut insert, that part that actually dampens the spring movement, #6 is the nut that holds the insert in the housing.
So yes, most people for a simple upgrade use Bilstein sport struts and shocks. For all things 24v, check out Markert Motorworks!Originally posted by mbonanniI hate modded emtree, I hate modded cawrz, I hate jdm, I hate swag, I hate stanceyolokids, I hate bags (on cars), I hate stuff that is slowz, I hate tires.
