    steering linkage ?

Is the 325i steering linkage longer then a 318, im going to assume so, because Im trying to use the 318 one and it seems to be coming up about 1/2 - 1 inch to short.

Hi Tom, you know the tie rods are adjustable, right? Or are you talking about where the rack mounts to the subframe? Need more details.

Im talking about the part that connect the steering colum spline with the spline on the steering rack. its a weird looking metal piece that has two joints in it that articulate. The 318 one I have apears to be too short when connecting it to the 323i rack and a 318 colum.

Okay, now I got it. The splined upper part slides up and down on the column splines. The lower part attaches in only one spot. If yours won't slide far enough, then there is a difference between US and Euro due to safety laws. Do you have the part from the 323? If so, try that. You should be able to mix and match.

the one from the 323 is on my car, it makes the 95 m3 steering rack swap easier because it is the same size as the regular linkage, it just has more mobility on it. it looks like all the ones pictured on the etk
