make it right and put it back in.
unless you like to live on the edge and spend heaps on repairs. -
take some pictures. I dont completely understand what you mean about the sleeves. I understand what you mean about the strut nuts though. You need to tighten those down as far as you can with a pair of channel locks. Dont use a hammer and chisel. Not all housings are exactly the same so the difference of an eighth of an inch wont hurt anything. As long as you cant lift the insert up and down in the housing, you will be just fine.
