Stupid question, but did you take off the top three nuts under the hood?
Also, you may need to push down on it to get it to drop out. Sometimes they stick a little bit.

Are you removing the strut? Take the two lollipop bolts out from the CAB and swing the arm away.
Or try bending it down, the strut should come out.

yes i did remove the three nuts under the hood lol, it's moving fine so it's definitely not stuck. I can't push down on the control arm any more.

am i missing something? forgive me, i'm pretty dense when it comes to common sense.

Seeing as the spring is still on the strut, I kinda doubt it

Yeah, loosen the ball joint. To do it, you'll have to put the strut back on the three top nuts and preferably put a jack under that joint because you're going to have the same spinning problem again.
When I did mine, I found that brake fluid loosens up all those rusty shitty nuts better than anything else.

thanks for all the help fellas, i'm going to tackle the rest of this side tomorrow morning and hopefully finish both by noon. I was going to get some buddies to help, but after we tried to get the springs off one of their cars (a mkv gli) they pussied out lol

got the spring out, then the strut assembly came out no problem. but i can't get the strut out of the assembly. it has to be original because it's really caked on. I have a large monkey wrench, and i have the assembly attached to the tie rod so it won't rotate. Is this a safe way to do this?
