    Removing rear spring pads

    Hey R3V!

I need to lower my rear end just a tiny bit (maybe another 3-5mm) and i've heard that by removing your spring pads will do the trick without any penalty (rattling noise, etc). Is this true? My mechanic keeps telling me not to do it but i hate having a forward rake.

Which spring pads are we talking about (#16 or #15), top or bottom ones?

    Thanks in advance!

A lot of guys on here don't run spring pads and they don't complain about rattle/extra noise.

I always work w/15..I bought thinner ones...

but u can remove them...and you can buy rubber/vinyl tubing and slide it over your top or bottom coil so it produces zero noise.....works on my 72 02!!!

            Thanks JRKOUPE

So does anyone know what the stock pad thickness is for the rear? I find three options in RealOEM, 5mm, 7.5mm and 10mm. I'd hate to buy the 5mm to find out that i have them in there already.

Also, does anybody have personal experience removing the pads entirely? Sounds like extra metal on metal noise is not an issue.
