    steering rack swap question

so i recently bought an e36 m3 rack ( 1998 ) and have a few questions regarding the knuckle and tie rods.

first off are the e36 tie rods better to use vs the e30 tie rods?

secondly what part of the knuckle must i cut out/shorten in my picture? is it the piece in between the steering guibo and the bottom u-joint?

thanks for all the help guys!

p.s. my car is an 1985 eta.

When Josh and I did his, all we did was remove the steering guibo and reconnected it with bolts. Everything else we left alone.

There is an entire thread on this install/mod.
Search in the diy section. Its an enormous thread, with every possible question asked and answered.

yeah that was my problem is the thread is 52 pages long. i went through 12 pages and decided that most peoples questions were pertaining to airbag vs non-airbag. thanks nitro, no spacers or anything are needed? meaning i can return my e30tech swap kit back :p ?

does the steering guibo make a difference in steering feel?
