Thought I would post pic's of how our rear susp ended up. We race Lemons/Chumps and needed a cheap OEM method of lowering the car (86 325e / m30). I have been running IE Stage 3 springs / Billie Sports. After reading all of the post about using Camaro rear shocks I ordered KY GR-2's (painted black in the pics).
In the pic's you will see our stock rear springs. What we did was take the metal top hat (the parts the engages the top of the front spring in the strut housing) and installed it on the bottom the rear spring. This was done so after we cut off 2 turns form the rear spring it would engage correctly on the lower control arm. We did weld a steel plate on the bottom of the top hat. Also, made the center hole big enough to lock around the big nipple on the lower control arm. Poor mans (Chumps legal lowered suspension)
Let me tell you - with the camaro shocks on it much much stiffer then the Billie Sports ever were.. Damn it's tight - hope it doesn't rain during the race.
We also cut cut down the spring to match the IE stance.. We can't go lower since we are already pushing the rear chamber. Not allowed to run the chamber mod's.. in the rear..
