Lets say one of you all bought some springs and are working on the car now and cant seem to get that 1 19mm bolt off holding the spring and strut in???? Thats where I am now. STUCK!!!

1. Take impact gun with 19mm socket.
2. Place strut on the ground facing away anyhitng important (like in your pic)
3. use impact gun to undo nut
The spring assembly will spring apart.

I forgot to mention foot on spring, which holds it.
I have done it before. Turned out not as bad as I thought. I also have had a bad experiences with spring compressors though. one slipped on me. Could have been dangerous, but I was lucky is did not come off.
If you want super safety, take your strut assembly to a shop where then can use their floor mounted compressor.Comment

You can hold the shaft with some channel lock pliers, use a rag to protect the shaft.
There isint a lot of pressure in the stock e30 spring, just point the assembly away from you and impact it off .
MIGHT be installing these this weekend.
BTW the springs are dark grey colored.1985 325e M50TU(Sold)

DONE! Raied to stock height
Cars raised to stock height!!! Took the front spring assembly to a shop they broke the bolt loose with a air gun. Backs were easy. We are winter ready!!! Thanks all for the tips!
