E30 M3 steering rack odd leak

Hi, I have a E30M steering rack in my IS, the problem i am having is if i let the car sit for 3 days all the fluid leaks out onto the concrete, if I drive the car then the fluid only drips a few drops over night. Im confused as to what the problem is. The leak isnt in the boots or the hoses its either leaking from that plastic hose on the rack itself or the metal line, im just confused about why it leaks more when i let the car sit over a period of time.

    Gravity.

More time sitting gives gravity more time to collect more fluid which creates more pressure to spill out. If you keep driving it, the fluid gets cycled around and the leaking area gets a relief from the weight of all the fluid. It then takes time for it to all drain back and build pressure enough to leak.

Dry everything off. Put new fluid in and let it sit overnight. In the morning, if there are drops, find the source and fix it. If no drops yet, with the car off, turn the wheel lock to lock and look again. If no drops, turn the car on (to get the ps pump going) and check again. If still nothing, turn lock to lock with the engine running and look again.

You could ignore all the previous steps and just go for a test drive then check for the leak but it can help you diagnose the source if fluid is just everywhere by checking for the leak under progressive pressure points.

You may also be using the wrong fluid or a mix of fluids which can be too thin as well as ruin your seals. You need to either have 100% ATF (red) or 100% Pentosin CHF 7.1 (green). I use CHF 7.1 in my M3 rack
