Early Model Rear Race Spring selection

I am trying to decide whether to go 6inch 800# or 4 inch 800#. As of right now I have 40mm lowering in the rear, and I want there to be pretty much no finger gap between the fender and tire. Tires are 205,45,16. What would your guys' oppinnions be?

my rear adjusters measure in at 0.75 of an inch, should I just go with a 4 inch spring and adjust up to my taste? or go with 6inch and pretty much have the adjuster as a "centerer"

I have a 742lb 5.5" spring in the rear on an adjuster that's turned all the way down and there is about a 1 finger gap between the wheel and fender. Use a 5" spring..

I can't find anywhere that makes a 2.5 5inch spring. Both hypercoil and eibach only make 4 or 6.

Go with the 4'', im running a 205-40-16 with a 9'' wide 15mm offset wheel and tuck tire, but when I spin them up I can go up to over 3 fingers of gap..

Are you sure the rear springs should be 2.5" ID? All GC kits I've had and worked on take 2.25" ID rear springs. Your adjusters may be different though.

Either way, I'd say get the 4" spring. That stiff of a spring will barely compress anyways, so you'll have plenty of adjustment both up and down. All the way up should give you about 1.25" of gap between the top of the tire and the fender. A 6" 800lb spring would be the same height as that when adjusted all the way down.

And for future reference, Swift makes a 65mm ID 5" spring that is pretty much the same as 2.5"

yes they are 2.5 ID adjusters, I found some cheap 4inch springs, and tested them. It will be perfect for what I want. I ordered them last night.

Who makes those adjusters? I'm dealing with the same thing now. The 6in spring in the rear is too high even without an adjuster so I'm probably going to drop to 4 inches and put adjusters in.

not sure of brand, buddy of mine gave them to me for 50$. I was able to tuck .25 of 205x45x16 tire in the rear with 4 inch and adjuster on any early. It is going to be perfect when I adjust up.

primarily I went with 4inch springs because of my early model.
