creaking/cracking noise at dead stop when turning wheels

WHOA.

I was driving my car to it's storage location for winter over the weekend...managed to sideways once or twice for a last drive "hurraw" before the long winter sleep...

Once calmed down, I turn wheels and there is creaking/cracking comming from the front end....no leaks, no nothing...

car has brand new front control arms, CAB's....

could this be a dead steering rack?

again, the noise is a VERY audible cracking/creaking noise...not a powersteering pump dying kinda thing...it's a mechanical sound...

That could be bad upper strut mounts or a dry tie rod ball joint.

list of things to do next season...

-upper strut mounts (if required)
-BJ's (if required)
all new suspention front and rear
all new brakes 4 corners
rear subframe pushing
rear TA bushings

this is going to be costly, I imagine would entirely change the feel of the car..it's sloppy as hell now.

You can start by putting some axle grease in the strut mount bearing. It's cheap and easy to do and might buy you some time. It's also a regular maintenance item on some camber plates.

cars gone till late April (of untill the street sweepers come out in the spring)

it'll just be one thing to worry myself over ALLLLL winter.
