I finally purchased another e30. Its an 86 325e coupe and a p.o.s. at that! But i love it just the same. The shocks are completely shot and so I'm replacing the suspension. I hate to beat a dead horse because I know its been talked about a million times. I am a newb to suspension and after market wheels, and I want to lower my car. It's just going to be a dd so I have no real need for performance but I would like it to be significantly lower. I'm working with a budget of around 750$ and I plan to buy 16's w/ maybe 7, 8 or maybe even 9 width, in the future so I need to work with this. I also understand that my wheel fenders are higher on the early model e30's so I am trying to keep that in mind. I have narrowed it to a few setups please help!
JOM coilovers. I understand they are generally looked at as crappy(cheap) but I have heard mixed reviews about them. I like the price and adjustability but I have heard the rear shocks can have issues if you put wider tires? would this work w/ the tires im hoping to go for? pictures on an early e30?
Bilsteins/Vogtland. Most people go with bilstein H&R but im looking at vogtland because I believe they are a little lower, and I heard H&R are too soft, again many mixed reviews. Also I have heard they are famous for bottoming out. I wish they were adjustable though, that way I can work with the set of wheels I plan to get.
Konis/Vogtland. Similar to the bilstein set up but I like the adjustability, not sure if the price is what im looking for though.
H&R Cup Kit. also looked at these, again a lot of mixed reviews. I have heard some horror stories that they were way too soft and even bouncy. Heard they were too low in the back and had rear camber issues. Also they are not adjustable.
Thanks for the help, right now im kinda leaning toward the JOM's because they can get a significant drop for cheap, and are adjustable so they will be easier to work w/ the rims I am going to get. Again its a dd and will not be drifting/auto x'ing. If you have an early model e30 with these specific suspension set ups please give me some more insight and maybe a picture thanks.
